Mission Statement
Creating connections to food, and education, as a catalyst for change.
About This Cause
In 1987, the First Baptist Church of Mooresville launched the Mooresville Soup Kitchen (MSK), a local hunger relief initiative to provide a free hot meal to anyone in need. Thirty-seven years later, MSK has grown from a church-based ministry to an independent 501(c)(3) organization with a new dedicated campus. While FeedNC continues its tradition of offering hot meals to anyone in need, sharing more than 45,000 hot meals annually, we now offer a total of 14 innovative programs. Rebranded in 2020, FeedNC stands for Food, Education, and Essentials with Dignity. As an organization, we are committed to finding solutions that address identified community needs. With a mission to create connections to food, education, and resources as a catalyst for change, all programs have been uniquely crafted to tackle large scale issues at the community level. Our primary objectives include: • Decreasing food insecurity. • Increasing health and wellness. • Building social capital. • Creating upward economic opportunities through workforce development. • Decreasing food waste. • Providing financial assistance through supplementing weekly groceries to allow income to be allocated on other essential expenses. In 2023, FeedNC served over 6,000 people throughout all its programs. These programs were designed with dignity at the forefront, as a core belief of FeedNC is that true growth and change can only occur in a safe place that allows individual to feel heard, respected, and dignified.
