Mission Statement
Co-partners of Campesinas is an all-volunteer organization supporting rural women, children and youth in El Salvador and Guatemala. Research shows that mothers are primarily responsible for the health and education of their children and that girls’ education is one of the most effective development interventions, so we partner with organizations of rural women to provide scholarships and accessible, low-cost classes and training programs, at times and locations convenient for them, helping them to keep youth in school, earn a living and mentor future leaders, thus our motto -- LEARN, EARN, LEAD. Classes such as dressmaking and computers draw women and youth to learn complex skills that allow them to earn a living.
About This Cause
In Chichicastenango, Guatemala where we have been working for twenty years we emphasize scholarships for elementary school children and leadership training for indigenous women. In Ilobasco, El Salvador, we helped partner organization, La Nueva Esperanza construct their own training center and are now helping them move toward organizational sustainability for the training programs they have been conducting for over twenty-five years. In Apastepeque, El Salvador we helped a women's organization purchase a building where they can expand the vocational classes that have been running for over ten years in borrowed quarters.
