The Spartanburg County Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of Spartanburg County residents by promoting philanthropy, encouraging community engagement, and responding to community needs.

About This Cause

The Spartanburg County Foundation is a trusted community leader. Founded in 1943, The Spartanburg County Foundation is the oldest community foundation in South Carolina. For nearly 75 years, the Foundation’s staff has provided expertise on the needs of the community and has helped donors maximize charitable giving. The Spartanburg County Foundation recognizes the power of partnership in philanthropy. The Foundation partners with donors, professional advisors, nonprofits, and community leaders to deploy resources back into the community. The Foundation partners with many individuals and organizations to offer special initiatives like Grassroots Leadership Development Institute, Spartanburg Community Indicators Project, and more. The Spartanburg County Foundation’s Community Fund benefits area nonprofits that work daily to meet the most pressing needs in the greater Spartanburg County area. The Community Fund is an unrestricted fund available to the Board of Trustees for discretionary grantmaking. Grants are made to nonprofits working within seven Community Indicator Areas to make a positive difference in Spartanburg County. Anyone may give any amount to the Community Fund year round.
