About This Cause
Dorchester Seniors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the lives of adults aged 50 and above in Dorchester County, SC. With a mission to create opportunities that improve the wellbeing of seniors, Dorchester Seniors envisions a community where adults can achieve their highest quality of life. To fulfill this mission, Dorchester Seniors offers essential services, such as home-delivered meals, group dining, transportation, and fitness classes, promoting both physical health and social connection among seniors. Additionally, the organization operates a senior needs pantry, which provides meals and personal hygiene items. This pantry has become a critical resource. Dorchester Seniors partners with SC Thrive to assist community members in applying for essential benefits like Healthy Connections Medicaid, Healthy Connections Prime, Long-Term Care Benefits, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Medicaid Aged, Blind, and Disabled. These partnerships help ensure all generations have access to healthcare, financial aid, and nutrition assistance.
