Our mission is simple- Harvest Hope is transforming lives by feeding the hungry and building a healthy and hopeful hunger-free tomorrow.
About This Cause
Harvest Hope is on a mission to eliminate hunger and food insecurity in South Carolina. We rescue nutritious food from stores throughout the state and distribute it to food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens, providing food for our most vulnerable citizens – children, seniors, and rural residents who don’t have access to grocery stores. Founded in 1981 with an ambitious vision to provide food and resources to individuals and families facing hunger, we now serve 20 of the 46 counties across South Carolina, distribute meals through over 400 partner agencies across the state, and operate major warehouse facilities in Columbia, Florence, and Greenville. Our generous supporters are critical partners in fulfilling our mission to building a healthy and hopeful hunger-free tomorrow. In 2023 alone, Harvest Hope Food Bank and our supporters were able to collaboratively provide over 25,122,400 meals to 300,337 households across South Carolina. Funding supporters like you allowed us to purchase critical food supply to ensure our inventory remained well-stocked to serve our neighbors nutritious meals during their time of need, supplying our Mobile Food Pantry (allowing us to distribute food by truck in rural areas), our Backpack Program (providing 47,530 weekend meals to children who rely on school meals during the week), our Senior Program (providing 57,011 boxes of nutritious food to seniors who often have to choose between food and lifesaving medication), and our Emergency Food Pantry locations and hundreds of partner agencies distributing food across the state that served 626,678 individuals.
