Mission Statement
Catholic Charities Atlanta is an advocate and friend for individuals and families facing adversity. We provide a holistic combination of accredited social services that remove barriers to self-sufficiency and wholeness. Our services are tailored for the unique circumstances of the people we serve, and our impact is real and measurable. We are faith-based and serve our neighbors professionally, compassionately, in multiple languages and regardless of background.
About This Cause
• In our 60 year history, CCA has served over ONE MILLION families in need in north Georgia and Atlanta. • CCA serves and employs people of all faiths and backgrounds. • In Fiscal Year 2013, CCA served 19,894 clients. • We provided 156 families with baby supplies. • Through our IDA (Individual Development Account) Program, our clients purchased 21 homes with total value of assets in the community equaling approximately $2.7 million. • Our Disaster Response Program supplied $47,000 in housing repairs, utility, and food support to victims of tornadoes in Dade and Walker counties. • Our English Language Program provided nearly 11,000 hours of English language instruction with an average of 75 classroom hours per student. • Under a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, CCA Adult Education staff provided 280 hours of citizenship classes to 60 students from 33 different countries of origin. • 48 businesses hired 172 refugee clients. • Our refugee resettlement services served 29 unaccompanied minors with services to ensure that the children would be in a safe environment, helping them enroll in school, helping them access immigration legal services, and helping them access physical and mental health services. • CCA Family Stabilization staff helped 562 clients reduce their risk of going without food, healthcare and heating by helping them apply for important public benefits such as SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, and LIHEAP (energy assistance). • In FY 2012, 87% of our clients were low income and 68% of clients live in poverty. • Catholic Charities Atlanta (CCA) employs 64 professional staff, offering services in 28 languages. • 43% of Catholic Charities staff members have a Master’s degree or higher level of education, and 69% of staff are bilingual or multilingual. 78% have a bachelor’s degree or higher. • CCA Counseling Services provides a variety of professional counseling services to hundreds of individuals, couples, and families each year. We provided mental health counseling to 897 individuals in FY 2013 with a 98% success rate. • In FY 2013, CCA resettled 274 refugees. Each year, CCA provides a variety of services to refugee families including employment services, English language classes, immigration legal assistance, and financial literacy. Ninety-four percent of those clients are economically self-sufficient (employed and house hold budget where revenue exceeded expenses) within 6 months of arriving in the U.S. • Our immigration staff served 945 ongoing clients this past fiscal year. They served 5,854 clients with brief services. They also currently provide numerous hours of training and instruction for potential clients under the new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Act (DACA). • CCA helped 111 children and their young and inexperienced parents by providing in-home parenting classes. 100% of parents increased their knowledge and skills of childhood development and understanding of their child’s needs. • In FY 2013, 95% of clients who received delinquency or foreclosure housing counseling “one-on-one” services continued to maintain their homeownership for at least 6 months. • Last year, our Christmas Connections program provided gifts to 3,708 individuals in need valued at over $278,000. • 1,289 volunteers gave 18,338 hours of services, which amounts to $320,132 in donated man/woman power this past fiscal year. • CCA has been accredited by the Council on Accreditation since 2005. The Council on Accreditation (COA) is an independent not-for-profit international accreditor of the full continuum of community-based behavioral health care and social service organizations.
