Mission Statement
" The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was established in 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Srila Prabhupada). ISKCON has since developed into a worldwide confederation of 6,000 temple devotees and 190,000 congregational devotees. " Hare Krishna Food for Life (FFL) is the world's largest vegetarian non-profit food relief organization. Its efforts span the globe, with projects occupying over 60 countries. Volunteers provide up to 2,000,000 free meals daily. At ISKCON of NORTH CAROLINA, we support funding of FFL.org and locally provide free food distribution at various locations.
About This Cause
Better known as the Hare Krishna movement, ISKCON is comprised of more than 350 centers, 60 rural communities, 50 schools and 60 restaurants worldwide. The mission of this nonsectarian, monotheistic movement is to promote the well being of society by teaching the science of Krishna consciousness according to the Bhagavad Gita and other ancient Vedic scriptures. Project Details We distribute 1000s of plates of free food weekly both at our center and in various locations in North Carolina. We teach about the health benefits of a healthy vegetarian diet and accompanying lifestyle. In our activities we donot discriminate between rich, poor, or any social, religious, ethnic class. Our help is open to all. Steve Jobs once mentioned this program that was done from one of our centers on the west coast. He used to get a free meal every Sunday. Please support our work so we can increase our support for thousands more people. We are presently increasing the size of our commercial kitchen We also support food distribution and educational initiatives overseas. In addition we support animal protection programs.
