Mission Statement
Providence Ministries, Inc. is a rescue mission and addiction recovery center in Dalton, Georgia which provides individuals, parents and children in desperate situations with the opportunity to find hope and recovery from a multitude of addictions, ailments and difficult life events.
About This Cause
Providence Ministries Programs Homeless Shelters At Providence Ministries, we believe that regardless of why a person is homeless, people living on the streets are still our neighbors. Our homeless facility in Dalton, the largest in north Georgia, provides 44 beds in two shelters. There are 28 beds in the men’s shelter and 14 in the women’s shelter. The women’s shelter can also accommodate their children. We also operate an additional 14-bed shelter in Calhoun, Georgia. These shelters are open seven nights a week. Many stay for weeks or months at a time. Some develop a sense of responsibility toward the shelter and the confidence to return to a stable life. Community Kitchen Providence Ministries offers breakfast, lunch and dinner free to anyone in need of a meal. Our kitchen in Dalton prepares 200 hot meals each day, seven days a week. Many of our guests are not homeless, but are experiencing food insecurity in their household. We also provide emergency food items to any visitor needing food to fill empty pantries. Alcohol and Drug Recovery Drug dependency and alcohol abuse lead to the emotional and spiritual death of a person by stealing any possibility to feel joy and purpose outside of drug use. Life becomes a lonely, sick, and dark existence. Addiction destroys lives, ruins relationships and breaks apart families. Providence Ministries operates four Alcohol and Drug Recovery programs available to men and women who are struggling with a life of addiction. Our recovery programs offer a low-cost, Christ-based alternative for many seeking help. All programs are led by certified drug and alcohol counselors. Providence Ministries’ Women’s Center for Recovery is designed to address not only addiction, but the specific emotional issues and experiences that often lead a woman to addiction. Our women’s facilities are safe, secluded, and intimate (10 bed maximum) homes where women can feel free to speak, listen, and heal from their shared pain and struggles. Providence Men’s Recovery Program is a 180-day program for men with alcohol and/or drug addictions. Recovery is about relying on strength that, individually, one may not possess, but can be developed through fellowship with others in similar circumstances. Changes can also occur when these men discover that God has the ability to restore people and use them for his golry. This program is located in the main building of Providence Ministries in Dalton and has the capacity of serving 30 men. The Men’s Transitional Living is housed in the main building of Providence and in nearby transitional living apartments, accommodating 40 men. Participants in the Transitional Living program work in the community and are held accountable through meeting attendance and random alcohol and drug testing. Our Master’s Camp is a 90-day men’s residential program for alcohol and drug recovery. Our drug and alcohol recovery program combines traditional recovery methods with Christian teaching that demonstrates how to spiritually weed out and heal from the issues that led to their substance abuse. The facility is located in Rhea County, Tennessee and can serve up to 30 men.
