Mission Statement
The purpose of the SPCA of Northeastern NC is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education. Our mission is to provide a clean, healthy and loving environment, food, shelter, and temporary housing for lost, stray or unwanted animals. To make every attempt to reunite these animals with their families or to adopt them to good homes. To promote public health and safety by promoting rabies vaccinations and other vaccinations. We work with Animal Control to confine stray, feral, aggressive and un-vaccinated dogs and cats. To educate the community about animal welfare issues and the importance of responsible pet care. Promote spay/neuter of companion dogs and cats for the health of the animals and to curb pet overpopulation in our community.
About This Cause
The SPCA of Northeastern NC provides care to nearly 2,500 homeless companion animals each year, taking in animals from Pasquotank and Camden counties in North Carolina. Our organization implements every available option to increase adoption rates of healthy and treatable animals in our care. We also provide resources and advocate for spay and neuter initiatives to reduce the number of animals without homes in our community. Our facility can hold and care for a maximum capacity of 70 dogs and 118 cats. For fiscal year 2021, the SPCA of NENC revenues were just under $421,000, helping us provide the resources to care for such an abundance of animals. The resources we provide for our community members include: Low-Cost Medical Clinics to provide affordable spay/neuter services, as well as routine veterinary care, such as vaccines and microchips, for companion animals. Pet Retention Program is designed to keep pets in their home, and to keep families together if it’s the best thing for everyone involved. Countless animals have remained in their homes, with their families, and have received the medical care they need to thrive. The SPCA's Hope Care Fund was established so that our organization can provide specialized medical treatment for animals who otherwise would be without. Our Pet Pantry Program provides food to cats and dogs of qualifying households, where they’re at risk of losing their pet due to economic circumstances. Volunteer Program offers animal care opportunities for community and community service members. Foster Network cares for orphans too young to survive on their own, or those who won’t thrive in a shelter environment. Our adoption package is designed to set the animal and adopter up for success, and includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip and registration, spay/neuter, a species appropriate collar, and 30 days of free pet insurance. Our adoption process is designed to be extremely affordable and convenient, made available to anyone who is prepared to adopt an animal from our care.
