Mission Statement
The Cottage is raising awareness and facilitating the healing of individuals, families and communities affected by sexual violence and child abuse.
About This Cause
The Cottage has four main program areas. 1) 24/7 Crisis Hotline- The Cottage provides support, crisis counseling, and information to those in crisis from an incident of child abuse and/or sexual assault. 2) Sexual Assault Center- The Cottage provides 24/7 response to survivors of sexual assault in providing options for survivors along with accompaniment through reporting and forensic medical exams. The Cottage also provides ongoing support along with therapy and support groups to both adult survivors of sexual assault and adult survivors of child molestation. 3) Children's Advocacy Center- The Cottage provides 24/7 response to victims of child abuse and their families. The Cottage works closely with law enforcement and child protective services when there is an allegation of child abuse in conducting a forensic interview of the child to gather information and works closely with their caregiver to offer support/information in this process. The Cottage works closely with agency partners through this process as well. The Cottage also provides therapy and support groups for the children and their caregivers. 4) Prevention and awareness programs- The Cottage provides prevention and awareness programs to the community. These programs are meant to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse, sexual assault, internet safety and sex trafficking. The Cottage also provides child sexual abuse prevention trainings to caregivers and professionals. All services of The Cottage are free to our clients.
