Mission Statement
The Division is organized for the following purposes: To advance and promote the hobby of model railroading. To furnish a forum where model railroaders and railfans can meet and discuss, learn about, and exchange ideas on railroading and model railroading. To organize, sponsor, conduct, and participate in displays, conventions, shows, and other functions relating to the hobby of model railroading. To further the purposes of and to financially support the NMRA and the SER.
About This Cause
The Piedmont Division serves greater metro Atlanta, most of the North Georgia area, and Cherokee Co NC within the Southeastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association. The National Model Railroad Association is the largest organization devoted to the development, promotion, and enjoyment of the hobby of model railroading. The Piedmont Division, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a group of about 450 model railroading enthusiasts in metro Atlanta and North Georgia. It is a part of the SOUTHEASTERN REGION of the NATIONAL MODEL RAILROAD ASSOCIATION. We are one of the biggest, most active and fastest growing Divisions in the NMRA. You do not need to have trains of your own to be a member— just someone that enjoys railroading and the hobby. Our members have all scales of model trains, including large scale garden layouts. Some members have huge, fully detailed and landscaped layouts that fill basements and outbuildings. Others only have a simple model train set that comes out of the box for holidays. These layouts cover railroads past and present, and portray most parts of North America as well as some in Europe. The Piedmont Division is a diverse group that simply enjoys model railroading and the company of like-minded enthusiasts
