Mission Statement
We're a non-profit organization and a public charity on a mission to fund research to find a cure for brain tumors and brain cancer. Once this disease strikes you/your family, you quickly learn why it is so critical to fund much needed research; research which can someday saves lives. A brain "tumor" diagnosis typically means non-cancerous. That doesn't mean the tumor won't become cancerous. Also, it doesn't mean your life will not be disrupted by deficits resulting from surgery. Your brain is likely the most important organ in your body. Without brain function, other parts of your body don't function. You are helping to provide SUPPORT, HOPE, and COURAGE to those suffering from this disease. You are helping us work toward advancements, and someday a cure. This past year 87% of our total revenue was applied toward brain tumor research, educational scholarships, support groups and other relevant programs. We strive daily to ensure the maximum amount of funding is applied toward our mission.
About This Cause
Founded in 1995, the SBTF operates exclusively as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization and is a public charity. Our all -volunteer Board of Directors is dedicated and driven to make a significant impact toward finding a cure for brain tumors. The Board directives strives to ensure all decisions result in the maximum allocation of funds to their intended purpose; namely brain tumor research grants and brain tumor support services. We fund scientific research and investigator-initiated clinical trials focused on finding a cure for brain tumors, award educational scholarships to those impacted by a brain tumor, host support groups for patients and caregivers as well as provide patient programs. Each member of our Board has been affected by a brain tumor/brain cancer diagnosis; they are patients and brain tumor survivors, or are family members who have endured the loss a loved one. At the SBTF, the passion to raise funds for brain tumor research runs deep and is driven by the desire to prevent others from experiencing the same level of sorrow due to debilitation and/or loss of life.
