Mission Statement
MedShare is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people and and our planet through the efficient recovery and redistribution of the surplus of medical supplies and equipment to those most in need. We collect surplus medical supplies and equipment from hospitals, distributors and manufacturers, and then redistributes it to qualified healthcare facilities in the developing world. We also outfit medical missions and safety net clinics in both the U.S. and abroad.
About This Cause
MedShare was founded in 1998 on the principle of bridging the gap between surplus and need to improve healthcare delivery and our environment. MedShare has been awarded a 4-Star rating by Charity Navigator for 18 of the past 20 years, ranking it in the top 1% of all nonprofits in the U.S. for its responsible use of donor funds. Our goal is to prevent high-quality medical supplies from being wasted and disposed of in U.S. landfills when they can be shared with charitable healthcare facilities and practitioners who desperately need them. Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, MedShare is a 501(c) (3) humanitarian aid organization dedicated to improving healthcare access for marginalized populations in the US and around the world. Our unique system allows hospitals, clinics, and medical mission teams to search our online inventory and order precisely what they need. By reclaiming and re-distributing surplus medical supplies and equipment from US hospitals, manufacturers, and individuals, we are enhancing clinical capacity and building capabilities to improve health outcomes in communities of need. Our mission is to significantly reduce the amount of perfectly usable products being discarded as waste. Annually, 8,000 volunteers sort and repackage those supplies. Then, pallets of product and forty-foot containers are shipped to underdeveloped countries worldwide.
