Mission Statement

In 1961 the “World’s Strongest Man,” Paul Anderson, and his wife Glenda opened a home in Vidalia, Georgia for the growing population of troubled youth. Through their vision, strength, and dedication, the Paul Anderson Youth Home (PAYH) has impacted and changed the lives of teens with a remarkable 90% success rate. For young men aged 16-20, many who are facing incarceration, this privately funded Christian residential facility offers an alternative and the opportunity to change their future.

About This Cause

The 36,000 youth that are arrested each week and entering the Juvenile Court system typically face a life of incarceration, addiction, unemployment, limited education, and harmful family patterns. The Paul Anderson Youth Home recreates healthy homes through enduring relationships, routines, and tough love. The PAYH is a youth transformation program – a model home and educational facility that gives young men a second chance to become productive members of society by addressing every aspect of their development, specifically their spiritual, emotional, mental, social and physical development. At the PAYH, lives that were enveloped in selfish and destructive life patterns are nurtured in a family environment that develops the foundation for long-term successful living: self-discipline, a strong work ethic, good decision making, a healthy self-image, and the skills to cultivate and maintain positive relationships. The necessary work being done in the lives of young men at the PAYH extends beyond themselves; it also impacts their families and communities. In addition to healing broken hearts and homes, the PAYH offers practical parenting tools through the internet, publications, speaking engagements, and parenting conferences. It is our desire to equip families to effectively parent their children in spite of increasingly negative cultural influences. Some achievements the PAYH maintains: • Less than 10% of graduates return to prison, while national recidivism is 50-65%. • Youth achieve their educational goals in the on-campus SACS accredited high school. Dual accreditation through AdvancEd and ACSI. • Rehabilitation that enables our youth to remain free from alcohol and drug addictions. • Youth are taught life skills including work ethic, integrity, and commitment. • Charity Navigator ranks the PAYH (debt free) as a top performing charity and we have CARF accreditation.
