Mission Statement
Planned Parenthood Southeast believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout our service area, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual's race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, (dis)ability or conviction for an offence for which a pardon has been granted or in respect of which a record suspension has been ordered. We believe that respect and value for diversity, inclusion, and equity in all aspects of our organization are essential to our well-being. We believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual's right to privacy. We further believe that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life and strong family relationships. Based on these beliefs, and reflecting the diverse communities within which we operate, the mission of Planned Parenthood Southeast is: to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings which preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of each individual; to advocate for public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services; to provide educational programs which enhance understanding of individual and societal implications of human sexuality; to participate in research that supports the advancement of reproductive health care and encourages understanding of their inherent bioethical, behavioral, and social implications.
About This Cause
Planned Parenthood Southeast (PPSE) is a trusted health care provider, informed educator, and passionate advocate, delivering vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to thousands of women, men, and young people in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. We promote a commonsense approach to women’s health and well-being, based on respect for each individual’s right to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning. PPSE delivers comprehensive sex education that empowers women, men, teens, and families to make informed choices and lead healthy lives. Moreover, we are a visible and passionate advocate for policies that enable individuals to access comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, education, and information. Whether talking with members of the state legislature, parents, faith leaders, or others, we fight for commonsense policies that promote women’s health, allow individuals to prevent unintended pregnancies through access to accessible contraception, and protect the health of young people by providing them with comprehensive sex education.
