Mission Statement
United Arts of Central Florida's mission is is to enrich communities by investing in art, science and history. Our vision is to increase access to quality arts, science, and history in Central Florida. We do this through collaborative fundraising, comprehensive marketing and audience development tools, grantmaking that support individual professional artists, community development, education, cultural diversity, cultural tourism, operating support grant programs that ensure a broad variety of art, science and history opportunities are available to the community. We lead curriculum-based arts education programs for K-12 students, workforce development programs that provide high school students with career training, and capacity building programs that strengthen the region's arts and cultural organizations. United Art's service area is Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
About This Cause
United Arts enriches communities by investing in art, science and history. We support 2.9 million art, science and history experiences annually, including more than one million student experiences. Our core programs are: - Collaborative fundraising - United Arts runs the largest collaborative fundraising campaign in the state. From December through April annually, United Arts partners with 38 of the regions cultural organizations to raise funds in support of arts and culture with one voice. In FY23 the campaign raised $6 million dollars for general operating support for local arts, science and history organizations to increase access to the arts for all people - Grant programs - United Arts provides grantmaking that supports individual professional artists, community development, education, cultural diversity, cultural tourism, operating support grant programs that ensure a broad variety of art, science and history opportunities are available to the community - K-12 arts education - United Arts partners with school boards in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties to provide curriculum-based arts education programs for K-12 students. These programs ensure that our students will experience music, ballet, contemporary dance, theater, visual arts and science through a wide variety of diverse cultural providers, opening them up to new worlds and new ideas. Diversity in the Arts - At its core, arts and culture is about diversity. Our job is to ensure all voices are heard. United Arts' DEIA initiatives allow everyone, from all backgrounds and circumstances, to take leadership in Central Florida’s arts and culture community. Our Diverse Leadership Pipeline, recruits, trains and places leaders representing diverse experiences and skills on Boards that are making decisions about our cultural sector. - Capacity building programs - to ensure the region's cultural institutions remain strong and vibrant, United Arts offers capacity building programs and workshops in marketing, fundraising and audience development, as well as panel discussions and lectures on the changing face of our community and how it impacts their audience. - Artistry Magazine - United Arts partners with Winter Park Publishing to publish Artistry Magazine, a bi-monthly print publication dedicated to arts and culture and the people who make it happen in Central Florida. This is a key audience development and cultural tourism asset for our region. - OrlandoAtPlay.com - United Arts hosts OrlandoAtPlay.com, comprehensive digital calendar and website for all things arts and culture in the seven-county region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Polk, Volusia and Brevard counties). The site posts on average 3,000 events annually in all genres, as well as local games for sporting events, dining, nature experiences and public art. This is a key audience development and cultural tourism asset for our region.
