Mission Statement
The mission of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is to foster an understanding of the interaction between people, wildlife, and their environments through education, engagement and conservational programs. Our intent is to create experiences that excite and motivate guests through fun and innovative educational opportunities. Further, we strive to advance internal funding operations, expansion and entrepreneurial programs through public and private partnerships in our community. Our ultimate goal at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is to instill passion in future generations as responsible stewards of our natural environment.
About This Cause
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is a premier resource for education, conservation and recreation, offering valuable learning and inspirational experiences that connect our guests to the world of plants and animals. We use our position and leverage to educate and provide meaningful experiences to children, particularly those in adverse situations. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens... Welcomes over 1,000,000 guests and remains the First Coast’s premier attraction for recreation, education and global conservation. Teaches over 110,000 children through our structured or teacher-led educational programs each year. Provides free field trips to all Duval County school children and free/discounted field trips for surrounding counties. Distributes over 10,000 free tickets to child-serving non-profit organizations and summer camp programs, including Ronald McDonald House, Daniel, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, PedsCare and MaliVai Washington Kid’s Foundation. Donates over 2,000 tickets to local not-for-profit agencies to enhance their fundraising initiatives. Hosts over 3,200 guests at Dream Night at the ZOO, a free, private event for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Reaches over 194,000 followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media sites. Over 24,000 households reached each quarter by the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens WILD Magazine. Supports over 46 conservation initiatives both locally and globally. Cares for more than 2,500 animals and 1,000 plant species.
