Mission Statement
The mission of Learning Empowered, formerly UMCM Suncoast, is to alleviate the symptoms and address the causes of poverty through innovative educational programs. We work with children and families who experience intergenerational trauma as a result of pervasive poverty, institutional racism, displacement and various crippling factors related to those circumstances that adversely impact their lives; helping them rise above adversity, flourish in their communities and find a place to call home
About This Cause
Learning Empowered, formerly UMCM Suncoast, helps children and families rise above adversity, flourish in their communities and find a place to call home with the following programs: Early Learning – The focus is on building the skills needed for school readiness and empowering families to become self-sustaining. Integrated Learning – Focus is on adult immigrant and refugee English language learners (ELLs) helping them overcome obstacles of trauma, language, and technology in a safe, respectful, and diverse learning environment. Community Learning – Focus is on providing a process and resources for families to take the next step out of poverty through an 18-month program proven to inspire and equip families and communities to resolve poverty and thrive.
