About This Cause

CARLTON MANOR INC. SERVICES and PROGRAMS Carlton Manor Inc. was established as a not-for-profit social service agency on July 30th of 1980. Beginning with just one six bed group home, today Carlton Manor Inc. has grown to operate a Supported Foster Care Program serving 55+ children and youth every day and three Enhanced Care at Risk of Human Trafficking Group Homes providing an integrated continuum of care for at risk and troubled children and families in foster care throughout the State of Florida. Our state licensed and COA accredited programs are as follows: In 2021, we primarily serve children and youth who have been physically abused, sexually abused, neglected and/or abandoned and have come into the State of Florida’s foster care system. These are our kids. Most have demonstrated a history of behavioral, emotional, and mental health problems, and have been unsuccessfully discharged from foster homes and other group homes who do not have the capacity to serve these kids. They require a huge safety net of staff all focused on developing a strong therapeutic relationship with our kids, a group home environment that prioritizes safety, structure, consistency and provides an exceptional level of care regardless of race, creed, or religion. If we can keep our kids safe in our programs, we can help them begin to heal from past trauma through qualified clinical individual and group therapy services. In addition, we provide high quality programmatic planning for individual and group activities designed to build self-esteem, teach and encourage problem solving skills, build inner self discipline, and build the personal resilience we have seen help our kids recover from their past and move forward emotionally, mentally and educationally. Human Trafficking and Sexual Trafficking Florida has the 3rd most documented cases of human and sexual trafficking of children and youth behind only California and Texas. Kids in state foster care are extremely vulnerable to those people who prey upon them offering money, drugs, and rewards that initially help them connect with the perpetrator and feel cared for by them. However, within days, the victim is required to dance in local strip clubs or worst set up in local hotels to engage in prostitution. Adolescents and teens in foster care are the most vulnerable and often respond to the temptations of $, a loving relationship and a culture that appears to truly value and reward them. Instead, they are lured in and manipulated, receive threats of serious harm to themselves and family members if they do not comply with the perpetrators demands and find themselves victimized of a human or sexual trafficking crime. Once they are in the clutches of the perpetrators it will be a long torturous road for them. Carlton Manor Inc. is dedicated to saving the children and youth who: come into foster care and experience rejection when children and youth are repeatedly discharged from foster homes and group homes due to their problems; human and sexual trafficking perpetrators; and other dangers and perils they will face as they grow older but remain in the foster care system. We consistently serve over 225 children and youth every year with over 80% graduating from our programs successfully. Our programs are listed below. They are all located in a community setting in of Pinellas County Fl., but we do serve children and youth referred from throughout the State of Florida. 1.
