Mission Statement
The mission of the Youth Automotive Training Center is to train and educate at-risk youth in basic automotive repair skills, academic remediation, job readiness and life management skills. The goal of this program is to prepare young adults who are at a disadvantage in their lives to become self-sufficient, productive, law-abiding citizens. Our program is funded solely through the generosity of friends like you! Please consider how you can support our critical mission to give disadvantaged young people a second chance in life.
About This Cause
Through YATC’s intensive hands-on curriculum and individual instruction, students gain the skills needed to begin a successful career in the automotive industry or use the knowledge they’ve gained to build a career that interests them most. Students receive intensive instruction in automotive theory, as well as practical skills. Technical skills are taught in the classroom in both large and small group formats. The focus of YATC’s approach is to meet the individual needs of each student to help them strengthen Students are given personalized attention as they develop vital interpersonal, professional and life management techniques to last a lifetime. Life Skills classes are taught twice a week and are designed to help students understand how to handle real-life situations, become familiar with current events and better comprehend issues in society and politics. Class topics include subjects such as job interview skills, resume writing, setting and achieving goals and health and personal wellness. Field trips, guest speakers and teambuilding activities enrich the student experience.
