About This Cause
Project Help, Inc. (PHI) is a non-profit organization of professional therapists, counselors and advocates, committed to providing hope, empowerment and healing to those affected by sexual violence, sudden death and other crimes. Along with counseling and advocacy services, Project Help, Inc. serves our community by providing a 24-Hour Crisis & Referral HELPline (239-262-7227). Project HELP is the only state-certified Rape Recovery and Victim Service Center in Collier County. We are also the only agency working with the Collier County Medical Examiner’s Office to quickly identify families and children that are affected by sudden death. Project HELP, Inc. has been providing therapy, counseling and advocacy to individuals affected by sexual violence and sudden death since 1986. As of July 2010 we were also fortunate to develop our own in-house sexual assault forensic collection room. This now allows us to offer the necessary services immediately to sexual assault survivors in a completely private and secure location. These services include a forensic examination for evidence collection, immediate crisis intervention for the survivor and any family members and/or friends that are present to begin the healing journey with and for the survivor. Our Sexual Assault Response Team is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our Team consists of our HELPline Volunteer who receives the initial call and contacts the PHI Sexual Assault Response Advocate who represents the victim and her/his rights throughout the response and coordinates the forensic examination with the PHI Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and Local Law Enforcement. Our Advocates will be with the survivor and everyone in their life that is affected by the sexual assault from victimization through prosecution. This new addition enhances our abilities as Collier County’s State Certified Rape Recovery and Victim Service Center and enforces our commitment to better our services to the community. PHI employs 11 employees made up of peer-to-peer counselors, as well as master-level mental health counselors and Licensed Therapists, who are all state-certified advocates. In addition to employees, many volunteers and our very active Board of Directors are committed to making Project HELP, Inc. successful. We love our jobs, and we love helping those in need.
