Mission Statement
Big Brothers Big Sisters' mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
About This Cause
Big Brothers Big Sisters support match relationships with children age 5 through the 18 and beyond with caring adults in the community. Children and youth primarily come from single-parent homes or homes where special circumstances come into play such as grandparents raising their grandchildren, foster parents, and military families. We call our Volunteers “Bigs” and our children “Littles”. Our focus is on prevention and our goals and objectives include the reduction of truancy, suspensions, juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, and gang participation. Further goals include academic improvement, improved social skills, and better relationships. These goals and objectives are obtained through individualized match plan goals. Research confirms that Big Brothers Big Sisters is successful in helping our community’s most vulnerable children beat the odds. Our strength lies in the fact that we do what we do extremely well. We know our program encourages values such as hard work and honesty.
