Mission Statement

Christian HELP is devoted to preventing homelessness by helping people find work, providing resources, and offering spiritual encouragement. Our purpose is to help the economically vulnerable achieve financial self-sufficiency and economic mobility so that individuals, families, and our community can avoid the high fiscal, emotional, and generational costs of homelessness and poverty. We have been doing this for over 32 years with great results. We are Christians helping all people find the work they want and receive the resources they need. Since 1992, we have helped 171,000 people find work to improve their income, distributed 23 million pounds of nutritious groceries to reduce hunger and household expenses, connected 2,700 to our money management tools, and provided 100,000 gifts to children who would have had nothing on Christmas.

About This Cause

Since 1992, Christian HELP has played a vital role in Central Florida’s community. Recent data suggest that over 50% of Central Floridians earn less than the Heart of Florida United Way’s estimated Basic Necessities Budget. Although they earn above the Federal Poverty Level, they still struggle to cover basic needs. These individuals live in constant concern about unexpected expenses, such as rent increases, which could disrupt their already tight budgets and push them into poverty or homelessness. Many do not qualify for federal or nonprofit assistance based on their income. Christian HELP has recognized the urgency of addressing these challenges, and we assist low- to moderate-income earners in advancing economically before they become homeless or impoverished. Recognizing the importance of prevention as the best solution to homelessness, we help financially vulnerable Central Floridians from all walks of life find better work with higher income, learn money management skills to maximize the use of their income, provide physical resources like groceries to reduce hunger and household expenses, and offer encouragement to help them persevere in their journey to improve their lives. Programs are offered both virtually and in person. In a relationally driven setting, Christian HELP restores hope and confidence by providing practical skills that empower the community to improve their lives and prevent them from falling off the fiscal cliff. We have a quantifiable impact, delivering preventative measures to the community at one-tenth the cost of restoration, should our neighbors become poverty-stricken or homeless. We rely on donors, funders, employers, social enterprises, and churches to contribute time, talent, and resources so that we can serve as a conduit of aid to our community. The hundreds of volunteers who serve faithfully enable us to operate with a lean staff, ensuring that the bulk of our funding is spent directly on client care. Through our Employment Services, we equip individuals to increase their incomes and identify career paths that lead to economic self-sufficiency and mobility. Our Resource Services provide nutritious food, Christmas gifts, and community connections that enhance security, reduce expenses, and help pay pressing bills. We also offer online Financial Wellness tools that foster better money management. Across all services, we provide emotional support through a listening ear, a caring attitude, and the offer of prayer. Whether together or separately, our services create long-term solutions that prevent homelessness for economically vulnerable individuals, seniors, and families. We impact over 25,000 individuals each year, ensuring that our entire community benefits from the work we do. In the course of any given year, we help 6,000 - 7,000 people gain employment, distribute over 1 million pounds of food, host over 15,000 job seekers at our job fairs, provide individual career coaching and training assistance to 400+ people, in collaboration with other agencies provide access to resources, helped 2,7,00 access financial skill building, and give away over 3,000 toys to children at Christmas. Thanks to funders, businesses, individuals, churches, and other community partners, we are debt-free and financially sound.
