Mission Statement

To holistically enhance the quality of life of all veterans and their families, providing them with direct services and fostering an environment of comradery and goodwill among combat-wounded veterans.

About This Cause

For over 60 years, the Purple Heart Foundation has been supporting programs that provide much needed benefits to our nation’s veterans and their families. The Purple Heart Foundation supports all veterans, from all wars, regardless of whether or not they’ve received the Purple Heart medal. In the past, the Purple Heart Foundation funded the MOPH National Service Officer Program. Under this program, Purple Heart Service Officers were accredited by the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs to advocate on behalf of veterans and their families for the service-related disability benefits they’ve earned. Service Officer representation was provided, free of charge, to veterans and their families up to the highest level of appeal in the VA system. In 2018, the National Service Officer Program completed over 11,599 benefit claims resulting in the awarding of over $198 million in service-related disability benefits to our nation’s veterans, their dependents, widows and orphans. Recently, the Purple Heart Foundation has shifted gears to continue to provide aid and assistance to veterans in new ways. The Purple Heart Foundation is focusing on the following areas of assistance: Education - The Purple Heart Foundation is providing Academic Scholarships to Purple Heart recipients and their direct descendants. As of 2019, the Purple Heart Foundation awarded over $250,000 in scholarship money to veterans or their family members who pursued a higher education for a brighter future. Helping The Homeless - The Purple Heart Foundation has also begun a new initiative to provide food and care-packages for homeless veterans. Currently, this program is only able available in the DC Metropolitan area, where volunteers and Purple Heart Foundation staff come together to distribute care packages (including essential toiletries, hand warmers, non-perishable food, and a handwritten letter reminding them that we've got their backs) and serve hot meals to veterans throughout the year. Homeless Prevention - Donations to the Purple Heart Foundation also contribute to Hardship Grants for veterans in crisis. A veteran in crisis refers to a veteran in need of assistance due to economic, financial, or medical hardships in their life. For example, a veteran that's been laid off may be forced to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. Your gift makes it so they don't have to choose. Qualifying veterans may apply for the grant, and upon approval the Purple Heart Foundation will pay their creditor directly, so more veterans and their families don't end up on the streets. What is unique about the Purple Heart Foundation is its long history of funding through thrift and car donation campaigns. By relying on its traditional fundraising channels, the Purple Heart Foundation can assure its foundation and corporate donors that 100% of their support will go to programs. No administrative, overhead or G&A expenses will be taken from their funding. The organization is an IRS designated 501 (c)(3) charity. It is run by a small but experienced professional staff and governed by an experienced volunteer Board of Directors including Purple Heart recipients, past National Commanders of the MOPH, and business experts. The combination of professionals in this organization makes it outstanding in leadership experience and knowledge of the plight of veterans in our society. The organization receives no government support and all programs are provided to veterans free of charge. We hope the combination of the outstanding mission coupled with the excellence and tradition of the organization have peaked your interest and you will invite a full proposal from the Purple Heart Foundation. Be the change-maker in a veteran's life today! Honor their sacrifice, with our service. Give today.
