Mission Statement
YCAYS vision is to continue to engage youth and parents in a collaborative effort to create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all young people in our local and surrounding communities. YCAYS desire is to offer a variety of educational, health and wellness, life-skills, and sports programs to reach all phases of our society and expand our vision all over the United States and beyond.
About This Cause
Young Christians in Action Sports, Inc. (YCAYS), is a local nonprofit organization that provides recreational activities to youth, fostered into an environment where everyone has an opportunity to participate and learn, regardless of their ability, gender, or race, and financial status. Coach Tony Bannister founded the YCAYS in 1994 while working with the City of Melbourne, Florida, coaching and mentoring kids at the local community center. Coach Bannister’s vision was and still is to teach our youth about Christ and fundamental values of life through sports. Coach Bannister uses the sports of basketball to provide young people with valuable opportunities to shape character, instill self-confidence, exercise discipline, and realize the promise, potential and rewards of teamwork. Through his vision and commitment to developing and enhancing the athletic skills and prowess of young people- as a positive, constructive alternative to negative attitudes, Coach Tony Bannister created and coached numerous, outstanding, and successful basketball teams, through the affiliated Melbourne Bulls and Jacksonville Rams basketball programs.
