Mission Statement
As Northern Kentucky’s largest and only multi-disciplinary arts organization The Carnegie fulfills an artistic cultural gap in our surrounding community. The Carnegie Galleries are comprised of over 6,000 square feet of gallery space where emerging and established artists exhibit in 5-6 shows annually, featuring more than 100 artists. Each year, the Eva G. Farris Education Center provides arts education to tens of thousands of children, many of whom are at or below the poverty level. The 447-seat Otto M. Budig Theatre co-produces high quality productions as well as offering an affordable theatre space for local high schools and smaller production companies.

Arts Integrated Workshops – Working closely with the local public schools, The Carnegie enriches the core curriculum through hands-on art making, dramatic exercises, and live performances for students grades preschool through 5th. These workshops are designed to engage the students’ creativity while reinforcing a range of curriculum standards from Language Arts to Science. Through these workshops, students are encouraged to practice creative decision making and take creative risks. The Carnegie provides Arts Integration Workshops throughout Northern Kentucky, but also maintains year-long arts integration contracts and specific-to-school-curriculum for the following: Covington Independent Public Schools Partnership – Beginning in August 2012, and continuing for the duration of the school year, The Carnegie will offer the Covington Independent Public Schools weekly visual arts and music instruction in all 5 elementary schools. This program has been designed to comply with the new State of Kentucky Assessment of Achievement Bill, KRS.158.6453, which mandates that all schools teach the Arts and Humanities. The Carnegie will conduct professional development sessions to train classroom teachers on arts-integration techniques and provide prepared lesson plans to assist each classroom teacher in integrating the arts into their classroom curriculum. The Carnegie hopes to expand this program, which saves schools 50% in direct costs, to meet the needs of more local schools. Boone County School Partnership – Beginning in August 2014, The Carnegie was inducted into the Kennedy Center Arts Integration Network. One of only 11 organizations inducted in 2014 and one of only 100 organizations in the nation to have this accreditation. The purpose of the partnership between The Carnegie and Boone County School District is to provide support for teachers and administrators to strengthen their knowledge and comfort in and through the arts. This includes expanding classroom teachers’ abilities to integrate the arts into the curriculum, as well as equipping arts specialists with tools to make connections with other art forms. It is our mission to support the people that can truly change how the arts are perceived; teachers and students. With meaningful arts experiences in the classroom, teachers and students can demonstrate how the arts produce thoughtful, inventive and well-rounded community members.
