Commonwealth Theatre Center (CTC) develops youth and our community through excellence in comprehensive theatre education and performance.
About This Cause
Commonwealth Theatre Center's (CTC) continuum of programs ranges from introductory experiences to rigorous Conservatory classes, public performances, and in-school programs supporting core standards. Formerly Walden Theatre and Blue Apple Players (both founded in 1976), CTC merged on Jan. 1, 2015. Under the umbrella of CTC, the subsets of Walden Theatre Conservatory & Blue Apple Outreach work together to offer many youth & families their first theatre experiences, building generations engaged in the arts. Blue Apple Outreach includes original professional touring performances for underserved youth across the region; drama-based workshops & residencies for youth (PreK-12) in schools & community sites; family learning programs, teacher professional development workshops & mentoring. Walden Theatre Conservatory includes theatre training for youth ranging from introductory to professional; student-produced & student-acted performances of classic & contemporary works, including set design, stage management, and sound/lighting; an alumni internship program, and productions featuring alumni, CTC Artistic Associates and community professional actors.
