About This Cause
Health-related stigma is a pervasive issue that has far-reaching implications for individuals and communities. The negative attitudes, discrimination, and marginalization directed towards individuals based on their health conditions or disabilities create barriers to accessing healthcare, housing, and support systems. AVOL Kentucky is focused on addressing health-related stigma, specifically related to HIV and other chronic health conditions, by fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, expanding program models, enhancing health outreach and education, strengthening healthcare connectivity, attracting high-quality staff, and building a solid financial foundation. By embracing these strategic focus areas, AVOL Kentucky aims to create a more inclusive community and empower medically vulnerable populations through advocacy, support, and education.
