Operation Care is a Christian Ministry that seeks to provide for the physical, spiritual, emotional, and social well- being of people in need in a loving, compassionate environment in the name of Jesus Christ.
About This Cause
Operation Care is a local nonprofit organization that has helped people in need in Shelby County for the past 31 years. The charity has a policy of financial transparency, undergoing an independent audit each year and then posting its audited financial statements and annual nonprofit tax returns on its website (www.operationcareky.org.) Operation Care is a Better Business Bureau Accredited Charity, having met all of the BBB’s 20 criteria for charity accountability for the past 11 years. For the past two years, the charity has also held a Gold rating for financial accountability from GuideStar. Since its founding in 1988, the charity has provided services to more than 224,000 hurting people through the following programs: A transitional housing and mentoring program for women and children that helps move residents from homelessness to self sufficiency; A child-enrichment program that helps break the cycle of poverty by providing sheltered children with tutoring and other life-enriching experiences; Medical and dental services for uninsured and financially disadvantaged people at the state-certified Operation Care Mercy Medical Clinic; An emergency assistance program that provides food, clothing, and household furnishings to people facing crisis situations such as flood, fire, and job loss; and A thrift store that provides low-cost, quality merchandise at affordable costs.
