About This Cause
The African American Forum, Inc. is one (1) of the leading arts & cultural organizations, based in Lexington, Kentucky focused on diversity and inclusion in the literary, performing and visual arts... that attracts patrons to it's activities, events and programs in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Since 1995, the organization's signature events have been the annual African American Ball and the annual Lexus Smooth Jazz Fest. These two (2) events have a huge impact on the local community, region and state. At the heart of the drive to present events is the Arts Partnership Program. This program is where the net proceeds are distributed to K-5 Elementary Schools in the Lexington-Bluegrass Region of the commonwealth of Kentucky for arts programming and experiences. The schools chosen are Title I schools where have a large percentage of "at-risk" students attend, from low-income households and receive 90% free or reduced lunch. The African American Forum, Inc. and its leadership believes that all students can learn and have a bright future... if given the applicable resources and support. One (1) of our core values is to partner with businesses, institutions and individuals who share our vision to make a difference in the arts, our community and its future. In short, as we move onward and upward it is our desire as an organization to continue to engage the public with diverse and excellent art, inclusive of underserved cultures, while making a difference in education through the arts for the next generation.
