Mission Statement
Walk With Sally supports children impacted by cancer by providing care-centered one-to-one fellowships and additional programs and services to uplift the family unit and lessen the burden of cancer.
About This Cause
Parents and caregivers suffering from cancer are not only faced with the physical and emotional challenges of chronic or terminal illness, but also the financial responsibility of caring for their family. The financial fallout that comes from additional medical expenses or being too ill to work, can also contribute to the crippling anxiety associated with the instability of the unknown road ahead. To tackle these issues, Walk With Sally supports the impact on the child by wrapping its programming around the entire family. We curate fellowships by connecting children ages 7-17 with adults who have experienced the trauma of a loved one’s or their own cancer. We provide consistent support through our year-round curriculum including community activities, art healing, and counseling. Walk With Sally provides additional resources such as educational scholarships and emergency financial assistance to aid with housing, groceries, meal delivery, and even clothing. Our unique and holistic programming has proved to be successful in over 1000 participants in some of the following ways: • Increased levels of confidence and acquired coping skills. • Improved academic performance and participation. • Overall emotional wellness and increased physical activity. • Ability to look and plan for the future.
