Mission Statement
Our mission is to move participants from homelessness to permanent, stable and affordable housing by providing transitional and permanent housing and comprehensive supportive services in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.
About This Cause
DC Doors, Inc. is a 501c(3) charitable organization that provides transitional and permanent supportive housing services to homeless DC residents. We engage both youth and adults in the fight to break the cycle of homelessness and restore our fellow constituents to self-sufficiency. We join other stakeholders in helping individuals work through mental and physical health challenges, stabilizing housing, equipping them with life and job ready skills and employment – all in an effort to restore them to independent living. As part of the effort to build their confidence and trust in the path forward, we’ve set in motion plans to take some of our youth on a cultural exchange trip to Jamaica in Summer 2022, where they will engage and share with other youth from a completely different tradition, culture, and background. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a service project in Jamaica as an impactful way of giving back and helping those less fortunate. This is an important step for our youth in re-taking their place in a responsible civil society. We would certainly appreciate your help with matching funds for our programs and/or help us by sponsoring one or more of the youths to travel to Jamaica and/or give to our effort to help those less fortunate in Jamaica.
