Mission Statement
We believe everyone should have access to a healthy, abundant, and beautiful future, and that design–and the process of building–have a critical role to play. MASS (a Model of Architecture Serving Society) is a nonprofit collective working to create solutions for people, place, and planet. Design can improve the communities in which we live and awaken the links that connect us to one another. By accompanying our partners and the communities they serve we can confront history, shape new narratives, and collectively heal. We are expanding access to design that is purposeful, healing, and hopeful. Our partners are seeking transformational change and we leverage the power of design to bring big ideas, beautifully into the world.
About This Cause
Our societal challenges are interwoven and inextricably linked. Deep-rooted inequality perpetuated by generations of isolated decision-making persists, leading to unequal outcomes with devastating consequences. Attempting to address one issue can exacerbate and catalyze other vexing challenges. And yet, in the face of problems, we see possibility. We work across critical areas that advance a future characterized by collective well-being, including health, conservation, social cohesion, addressing social injustice, reducing inequality, and increasing biodiversity. By accompanying our nonprofit partners and the communities they serve, we confront history, shape new narratives, and foster collective healing. We embrace a holistic approach that transcends disciplinary boundaries to prioritize the well-being of people and the planet. Our work goes beyond buildings; it is about creating movements that empower communities and igniting positive change. Together, we can build a more just, resilient, and beautiful world—one where every individual has the opportunity to flourish.
