Mission Statement
Camp Kaleidoscope seeks to provide a safe, supportive overnight camp experience and year-long programming for children who have a parent who is currently in treatment for cancer, is in remission from cancer or who has died from cancer. Campers will have the opportunity to build friendships and gain strength from peers facing similar challenges.
About This Cause
Camp Kaleidoscope will provide support to children affected by a parent's cancer. Many of these children often had to grow up quickly and lack a support system to talk about the adversities that come along with cancer. Camp Kaleidoscope will provide a week-long overnight camp and year-long programming for 120 children in the San Francisco Bay Area ranging from the ages 6 to 18. At camp, our campers will develop strong relationships with other campers dealing with similar hardship and their counselors who serve as mentors for these children. We provide fun programming such as a camp wide carnival, Science rotations, Sports rotations, Arts & Crafts rotations, and a backpacking trip for older campers. Our programming is designed to allow our campers enjoy being a kid and escape the world of cancer. Outside of camp, our counselors hold quarterly meet-ups for the children, attend their campers' extracurricular activities, and serve as a rock for families during difficult times. We hope that Camp Kaleidoscope will be a community that lasts for a lifetime.
