Mission Statement

The Memphis Jewish Community Center (MJCC) is truly the center of our Jewish community and provides programs and services to our entire community as we work toward our mission of: “Connecting, Engaging and Strengthening Jewish Memphis” through programs addressing the areas of physical, mental, intellectual, cultural, social and spiritual well-being.

About This Cause

The Memphis Jewish Community Center was founded in 1949, by influential Jewish, Memphis businessmen who saw a need for returning war veterans. More than 70 years later, we serve the entire Memphis and Shelby County community, providing programs for infants to seniors irrespective of race, religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation or gender identity. Health and wellness initiatives cross all departments and address areas of physical, mental, intellectual, cultural, social and spiritual well-being. This is accomplished through the following departments: Aquatics, Sports & Fitness, Senior Services, Camp & Youth Services, Early Childhood Center, Cultural Arts, Center for Jewish Living & Learning and Fogelman Jewish Family Service. In conjunction with our agency’s mission, the departmental mission of Fogelman Jewish Family Service is to strengthen the Memphis community by providing vital social services that will enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations, especially seniors and individuals with special needs. Those who qualify can receive support through a variety of social service programs including: special needs support, senior case management, transportation, counseling, meal delivery, food pantry and emergency financial assistance.
