Mission Statement
Catholic Charities of East Tennessee (CCETN) are a coalition of service driven community centered programs empowered by the grace of Jesus Christ. We help foster human dignity of the vulnerable in our region through shelter, counseling, education, advocacy, and reverence for life.
About This Cause
In fiscal year 2024-2025, CCETN served 15,841 individuals through a comprehensive range of services that support families in crisis, promote stability, and empower long-term success. Our programs include: Adoption: For expectant mothers who choose adoption, we work with approved families to facilitate the process. We provide comprehensive case management and support for the birth mother from pregnancy through one year after birth. Our adoption program is licensed by the State of Tennessee through the Department of Children’s Services. Counseling Services – Professional, trauma-informed therapy available in Knoxville and Chattanooga. Disaster Relief: Offering aid in response to both human-made and natural disasters, including providing direct supplies and housing assistance to those affected. East Tennessee Collaborative (ETC): A pilot initiative funded by the Tennessee Department of Human Services that helps families in East Tennessee achieve financial stability and independence. ETC provides coordinated access to financial assistance, skills training, mentorship, and community support—empowering participants to overcome barriers and reach their goals. More than a program, ETC is a collaborative network of individuals and organizations working together to strengthen families and promote upward mobility. Food Insecurity: Addressing hunger in underserved communities, including rural Appalachia and inner-city areas. Legal Services for Immigrants: Providing low-cost and pro bono legal services for immigrants. Mobile Ultrasound Clinics & Pregnancy Help Centers – Six centers located throughout East Tennessee, and mobile clinics that are conducted two to four days a week that provide prenatal care, parenting education, and essential supplies for mothers and infants. Focus is on serving the most underserved communities, including rural and inner-city areas where prenatal care may not be available. Services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, education classes, and supplies for the child’s health and safety including car seats, booster chairs, diapers, hygiene products, formula, and clothing. We offer comprehensive information to help mothers make informed decisions for themselves and their babies. Project Rachel: Post-abortion support for anyone affected by abortion – women, men, family, or medical personnel. Project Rachel offers confidential counseling, support groups and healing retreats. Sheltering: These programs include intensive case management to stabilize health, wellbeing, and access to benefits, with the goal of securing permanent housing. Children: Offering emergency shelter for endangered children (ages 0-17) until a safe placement can be found. Adults: The Samaritan Place: emergency shelter for at-risk and un-housed adults aged 60 or older. Community Supportive Housing: residential housing for adults with severe mental illness. The Home Place: residential and emergency shelter for at-risk and unhoused adults living with HIV/AIDS and unhoused adults who need respite care. Tennessee Strong Families (TSF) – State of Tennessee grant funded program to support pregnant women across East Tennessee, providing essential services including rent and utility assistance, transportation, food, baby supplies, and access to free educational classes. TSF shares alignment with TANF goals, exemplifying our ability to implement complex, statewide initiatives that address both economic and social determinants of health.
