Mission Statement

The Love Kitchen provides meals to what we call the "5-H's": the hungry, homeless, helpless, hopeless, and homebound.

About This Cause

The Love Kitchen was founded by twin sisters, Helen Ashe and Ellen Turner, with one goal in mind, to feed anyone and everyone that is hungry. For 37 years, the Love Kitchen has provided the Knoxville community with food, hugs, and love. No one is a stranger and everyone is invited to eat, no matter who they are or what they do. The sisters were "grandmothers" to everyone and cared for each person as if they were a part of their own family. The sisters have been featured on the ABC program "Secret Millionaire" as well as many different national news and talk shows including the "Oprah Winfrey Show" and "NBC News Tonight". Despite the loss of Ellen in 2015, and Helen in 2018, work continues diligently to ensure no one goes hungry in our community. Helen and Ellen's dedication is an inspiration to their many fans and supporters around the world. Together, we can all work to help to continue their mission of feeding the hungry, loving the unloved, and giving hope to the hopeless.
