Mission Statement

Friends of the Smokies helps raise money and support for Great Smoky Mountains National Park, America's most-visited national park. We help fund environmental education programs like Parks As Classrooms, support wildlife management to protect black bears and elk, and help preserve historic houses and churches in the park from Cades Cove to Cataloochee Valley. Whatever you love about the Smokies, Friends helps support it!

About This Cause

Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park assists the National Park Service in its mission to preserve and protect the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by raising funds and public awareness, and providing volunteers for needed projects. For more than 25 years, Friends of the Smokies has raised more than $75 million to help maintain Great Smoky Mountains National Park as a crown jewel of the national park system, including the establishment of the $4 million Trails Forever endowment to improve Smoky Mountain hiking trails in perpetuity. Membership starts at $35 annually and helps preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park in so many ways.
