Mission Statement
Neighbor serving Neighbor, by the power of God's grace
About This Cause
GraceWorks is a Christ-centered nonprofit community resource center. For more than 25 years we have provided food, shelter and support for our neighbors in need. We invite all to join in our mission of Neighbor serving Neighbor, by the power of God's grace. GraceWorks Ministries, Inc., was founded in 1995, when concerned citizens and faith leaders came together and decided Williamson County needed a central place to send people who needed help with food, clothing and financial assistance for utility and rent payments. By pooling church resources with private and public sectors, GraceWorks can provide more help to better serve our community, rather than duplicating efforts. Today, GraceWorks is the primary community resource center for those seeking assistance in Williamson County. GraceWorks offers more than 20 services, organized under Food, Shelter and Support, and has established a referral network with more than 50 partners agencies to provide help for immediate and long-term needs. Food: Services increasing access to healthy food for those who are food insecure, regardless of residence, include: a Food Pantry offering monthly shopping carts full of groceries, student weekend Fuel Bags for children on free/reduced meals, and Mobile Food Pantries offering food in under-served areas. Hunger Prevention results in 2023-24: More than 12,000 unduplicated people were given food carts, an average 462 students received Fuel Bags weekly and 30 mobile Food Pantries were conducted in food-insecure neighborhoods. Shelter: Services for Williamson County residents only that help families stay in their homes, avoid utility disconnection and obtain the home goods and supplies to adequately support their family. Services include: rent payments, utility payments, air conditioners, heaters and temporary housing for the homeless. Shelter results in fiscal year 2023-24: Helped 1,234 unduplicated people with rent assistance, 1,828 with utility bills and 36 with temporary housing. Support: Services for Williamson County residents only include furniture, clothing and appliance vouchers to our Thrift Store; gas cards; one-way transportation; professional counseling referrals; financial coaching; Christmas gifts; newborn supplies; temporary medication assistance; free tax assistance; air conditioners and heaters; and a referral network for assistance GraceWorks does not provide. Results in 2021-22 include 547 families received store vouchers, 1,011 children received Christmas gifts, and 26 families received newborn supplies. Combined, these programs were able to provide resources to approximately 13,517 Neighbors, stabilizing their lives in times of crisis, providing food, shelter, peace, and hope.
