The Soulsville Foundation perpetuates the soul of Stax Records by preserving its rich cultural legacy, educating youth to be prepared for life success, and inspiring future artists to achieve their dreams

About This Cause

Located in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, the Soulsville Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of American soul music and transforming lives through education, music, and community engagement. Founded in the late 1990s on the original site of the legendary Stax Records, Soulsville stands as a powerful reminder that great music and bold dreams can change the world. Today, the Foundation fuels three dynamic programs that serve youth, families, and music lovers alike: The Stax Museum of American Soul Music – A world-class museum celebrating the legacy of Stax Records and the global impact of soul music, featuring interactive exhibits, rare memorabilia, and unforgettable stories from the civil rights era and beyond. Stax Music Academy – A premier music education program that equips young artists with skills in performance, leadership, and industry awareness while anchoring their identity in the history and soul of Memphis music. The Soulsville Charter School – A high-performing, tuition-free public charter school providing rigorous academics and a music-rich curriculum that prepares students for success in college and in life. Together, these three programs create a thriving cultural campus where heritage and opportunity walk hand in hand. Learn more at www.soulsvillefoundation.org.
