About This Cause
Since 1972 Girls Inc. of Huntsville has provided life-changing programs and experiences that help girls navigate gender, economic, and social barriers. Although times have changed, Girls Inc. has always been and will always be about girls. Through the combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and research-based programming, girls learn to value themselves, take risks, and discover and develop their inherent strengths. Girls Inc. inspires girls to be strong, smart, and bold, through the below program focuses: STRONG (Healthy Living) programming shows girls how to increase their level of physical activity and view their bodies more positively. -Friendly Peersuasion (alcohol, drug, bullying, abuse) -Sporting Chance (sport teams, fitness) -Mind + Body (body image, healthy choices) SMART (Academic Enrichment and Support) inspires girls to improve their outlook and performance in school. -Literacy (book clubs, reading level assessments, journaling) -Operation SMART (Girls Who Code, STEM) -Grade Tracking, Homework Help, Tutoring BOLD (Life Skills) instruction helps girls improve their self and emotional control. -Economic Literacy -Leadership and Community Action -Social-Emotional Intelligence -Career Exploration and Planning
