About This Cause
Delta Health Center, Inc. (DHC) is the first community health center of its kind and was the first Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) in the United States. A non-profit organization serving the Mississippi Delta, DHC opened its doors in 1965 in the historic town of Mound Bayou, Mississippi. Now with 16 community and school-based health centers in operation across six rural Mississippi Delta counties, we continue to build a world class primary health care system committed to caring for vulnerable populations from newborns to the elderly. DHC also supports those who want to stay fit and to those with chronic health problems with our main focus being helping people to reach optimum health. We have helped generations of families to live healthy and stay healthy. Delta Health Center provides all of its services to patient's regardless of their ability to pay. We offer a sliding fee discount based on income and family size and turn no one away due to an inability to pay. This includes general primary care, oral health care, behavioral health, women's health, pediatrics, and physical therapy. We also provide social services, transportation, pharmacy, nutritional services, lab and x-ray, and wellness services.
