Mission Statement
The Jackson Resource Center mission is to offer a place of hope and new beginnings by providing, coordinating, and delivering an efficient system of care for people experiencing housing crisis in Jackson, MS.
About This Cause
JRC – Jackson Resource Center is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit. Founded in 2012, JRC has assisted the homeless and those threatening homelessness in Jackson, Mississippi, with transitional and permanent housing placement and accessible social services. JRC is governed by a 5-person community-based Board of Directors that serves on a volunteer basis to determine policy for the corporation. ` Jackson Resource Center is a grassroots 501c3 dedicated to transforming Jackson’s most vulnerable population, the homeless, those on the verge of homelessness, our elderly over 50, and children. Our programming models are method and data-based, supported by an enclave of dedicated staff, board members, volunteers, and partner organizations. Jackson Resource Center (JRC), the Sponsor, is developing REACH (Resource Empowerment Activates Change and Hope) at the door of downtown Jackson, MS. Since 2012 JRC has been working with low and extremely low-income persons, many of whom are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. The lack of affordable quality housing and no permanent supportive housing in the capital city of Mississippi has resulted in widespread displacement of this population. The range of services we currently provide include but not limited to: -securing adequate and affordable housing -offering support services, i.e. case management -serving as an advocate for children and families at various agencies in which they were seeking additional assistance (family reunification) -teaching life skill classes -teaching parenting classes -providing financial literacy -job readiness training/workshops -provided shelter to families in crisis -overseer of the daily operations of homeless shelter This list is not exhaustive of all services rendered throughout the years. JRC has assisted hundreds of families by linking them to needed resources or providing the service directly.
