Mission Statement
Poverello provides nutritious food, health services and basic living essentials with the highest degree of understanding, respect and love for individuals living with critical and chronic illnesses Including HIV, in South Florida.
About This Cause
The Poverello Center, Inc. (TPC) was founded by a Franciscan priest in 1987 during some of the darkest days of the HIV pandemic. Over the 35 years of service, we have learned to provide healthy, client selected foods for meal preparation by our thousands of South Floridian program participants whose incomes and food situation require assistance with procuring healthy foods. We also help people to Live Well through our fully appointed gym and complimentary medicine providers (all volunteers) giving service to our program participants including Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massage, Haircuts, Hair Styling and opportunities for social interaction. Our Be Well programming looks at each program participant's unique situation including substance abuse potential and risk of mental health problems to connect them with community providers to address their needs.
