Mission Statement
SOS Children's Villages Florida is a foster care neighborhood in South Florida that is home to 72 foster children between the ages of 2-18. The Village strives to provide each child with a safe home, caring family, happy childhood and vital onsite services including therapy, tutoring and life skills classes to help our kids heal from past traumas and discover the tools, knowledge and skills to grow into successful young adults.
About This Cause
For more than 20 years, SOS Florida has been a source of Healing, Hope and Home for more than 450 foster children in South Florida. Our children have been removed from their homes by the State of Florida due to abuse, neglect and abandonment. More than just a place to sleep, the Village is dedicated to restoring their childhood by providing them with home, family, happy childhood moments, a good education and a supportive Village and community. The Village consists of 12 houses that are home to 72 children. Our House Parents provide nurturing, support and supervision for the children. Because our Village is so large, we often reunite siblings in foster care allowing them to continue to share their common family connection and grow up together. On-site services provide our kids with the tutoring to catch up and get ahead in school, therapy to help overcome past traumas and be the best person they can be and life skills to help shape their behavior, physical being as well as provide them with the skills and tools to build a better future. Thanks to the support of the Village, over the past decade 100% of our kids who turn 18 have earned their high school diploma and 100% have gone on to further education. Today you will find our alumni teaching in local schools, serving in the military and local police forces, running their own businesses, serving non-profit organizations and raising their own children.
