About This Cause

Service in our Community: Marie Wilkinson fought against poverty, hunger, homelessness, joblessness, and injustice. A lifelong social and civil rights activist from Aurora, she founded the pantry from her home in the 1950s. Marie believed strongly that it is a privilege to give a helping hand to those in need, that people need to see a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. She recruited friends and neighbors to help, and launched a soup kitchen and food pantry. Today the MWFP continues to serve the need of individuals and families from any community. We have 2 locations in Aurora with a total of over 5,000 square feet for client shopping to enable individuals to shop for their supplemental food items. The pantry developed a community garden to provide self sustainable food choices to harvest their own vegetables. We are provide many resources to help families find work, medical assistance, healthy living education and provide a hand up education.
