Mission Statement

Every member of our North Coast community will have access to a seamless network of care and feel supported and empowered when facing a breast or gynecologic cancer concern.

About This Cause

The Breast and GYN Health Project was founded in 1997. It is a cancer resource center for people facing breast and gynecologic cancer concerns on California's North Coast. Breast and GYN Health Project is a grassroots community resource for those facing breast or gynecologic cancer concerns. We promote healthy survivorship through information, hope, and healing support, while encouraging each person to become their own best medical advocate. We advocate within our community to address breast and gynecologic cancer concerns responsibly and holistically. We are cancer survivors and support persons healing through service and bearing witness to others. The services provided include: patient navigation, lending library, medical visit preparation, choice of support groups, cancer survivors providing peer support, education and information. We promote healthy survivorship through information, hope, and healing support, with encouraging each person to become their own best medical advocate. BGHP has six support groups. Most of the groups are still meeting via Zoom or Facebook. These platforms allow more people to participate from afar or when they do not feel well. All services are free of charge. Our model is the wounded healer model, which enlists people who are cancer survivors or cancer support people as volunteers and employees.
