About This Cause
Today I want to tell you why I am at the head of a non-profit organization that fights every day for the rights to access preventive health. What is our motivation? We are motivated to help others gain access to health services, because we all deserve to enjoy a full and healthy life. The day that VOCESPR changed my way of seeing life is reaffirmed every time I receive a call or a message from the social networks, with questions such as where can I receive the flu vaccine? COVID?, for myself, or for my children? Every time a community calls us with needs, to vaccinate a bedridden person and we cannot help them. Every time I see a patient with Hepatitis C who cannot or does not know how to access the available treatments that are accessible today, because our highly segmented health system does not allow them to navigate. The reason for our existence and commitment to promoting equity. Access to health grows every time a person approaches us who does not have the resources to receive a vaccine, because it is very expensive. When a woman with a diagnosis of cervical cancer writes to me so that we can help her access her treatment. Women or men whose medical plans do not cover vaccines against the human papillomavirus (HPV, due to their age or coverage) and with simple guidance we can help them. Each of these reasons reaffirms that in these past 10 years we have made many advances, we have been able to respond to major emergencies such as influenza epidemics, Hurricane Maria, Earthquakes, and the COVID-19 Pandemic, by reaching the most vulnerable communities and populations. For these reasons and many more, we recognize that there is still a lot of work to do, that together we are more effective and that our work model gives measurable and palpable results. In response to the pandemic: Over 850,000 doses administered, 11,200 events in various communities, Over 500,000 working hours, 500 volunteers. In matters of social advocacy, progress in public policy together with other sectors has promoted better access for Hepatitis C patients. For example: Law 67, regulatory letters that improve patient navigation and collaborative programs with a direct impact on the patient. We have succeeded in advocating for a vaccination registry for all and improving access to vaccination for all. We have successfully carried out over 50 educational campaigns in 10 years. And we continue to carry educational messages against misinformation and educate on health issues on an ongoing basis. On the topics of vaccination in children and adults, hepatitis C, cancers associated with HPV and Telehealth, among others, we have educated more than 13,000 health professionals. Today we continue with our hearts in our commitment to reach more people to advocate for access to preventive health and equitable access to health for all. Our new CONTIGO PR campaign highlights our work and educates about our mission. Individuals, organizations, and entities will be able to collaborate with our mission through their contribution on our website. The impact on public health has been possible thanks to the collaboration of people, companies, and organizations with a great sense of social responsibility and a health vision. We know that you share our vision, mission and we are willing to continue reaching out to each community when they need us. We want to continue impacting lives and your contribution would be a great help to achieve this. With your financial support we will be able to reach more diverse segments, health professionals, children, adults, and vulnerable communities with educational programs on disease prevention, well-being, access to health and immunization.
