About This Cause
The Peg Taylor Center for Adult Day Health Care is the principal program of Innovative Health Care Services. Since 1986, the Peg Taylor Center has offered comprehensive support to help both older and younger adults with serious health conditions and disabilities to live in their own homes or other community settings. Our person-centered support reduces individual isolation and sustains stronger health and well-being, thereby preventing or reducing emergency department visits, hospitalizations and nursing facility placement. To accomplish this, participants at the Peg Taylor Center receive individualized services based on their expressed interests and assessed needs. While attending the center from 1-5 days a week, they receive nursing care and management; social work support; physical, occupational and speech therapies; and attention to their needs at home, including housing and nutrition. Throughout the day we offer a therapeutic activity program designed to strengthen health and independence, and through which participants can enjoy the company of others and re-engage with things that interest them in a warm, encouraging atmosphere. We also provide nutritious meals, transportation and other services, including assistance if emergencies arise that prevent program attendance. All services are coordinated with the participant’s personal medical providers and others involved in their on-going support. Through this comprehensive aid, participants at the Peg Taylor Center commonly experience improved health outcomes. The range of conditions for which they need support may include cardiac and respiratory disease, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, depression and other challenging health problems. Special attention for the needs of participants with symptoms of dementia is provided through COMPASS at the Peg Taylor Center, a program of additional support via which we.can help individuals and their families navigate the special challenges presented by dementia-related diagnoses. The Peg Taylor Center is the only adult day health care program serving Butte County and also serves nearby portions of Glenn and Tehama County. Since 1986, over 4 million hours of care and support have been provided in service of our mission.
