To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring & responsible citizens.
About This Cause
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy serves youth ages 4-18 years old. We focus in three critical areas: 1. Academic Success 2. Learning to live a healthy lifestyle 3. Character and Citizenship We are asking for donors to donate to our two initiatives: 1. Academic Summer School 2. Reading Intervention Program Over 80% of our club members come from low income family backgrounds. We know that low income children are 2 and a half to 3 years below their middle income peers due to summer learning loss. Our Boys & Girls Clubs of Tracy's Academic Summer School help our club members to experience no summer learning loss and they actually experience learning gains! Our Reading Intervention Program will be introduced to all first and second grade club members. Currently, 58% of our club members are not proficient in reading. Statistic show that children that are not proficient in reading at the end of third grade have higher risks of dropping out of high school and becoming incarcerated as adults. Thanks to our Reading Intervention Program, we will have 100% of our first and second graders reading proficiently at the end of third grade.
